Are Your Squeeze Pages Responsive?
Well, well, well…Google’s done it again!
They’ve made another BIG announcement on the 21st April 2015 which if all your websites are none responsive, then it’s advisable to get your act together and do something about it quick, especially if your websites depend on Google ranking them.
Here’s a quote taken directly from Google Webmasters central blog:
“As we noted earlier this year, today’s the day we begin globally rolling out our mobile-friendly update. We’re boosting the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile search results. Now searchers can more easily find high-quality and relevant results where text is readable without tapping or zooming, tap targets are spaced appropriately, and the page avoids unplayable content or horizontal scrolling.
- Affects only search rankings on mobile devices
- Affects search results in all languages globally
- Applies to individual pages, not entire websites
While the mobile-friendly change is important, we still use a variety of signals to rank search results. The intent of search query is still a very strong signal — so even if a page with high quality content is now mobile-friendly, it could still rank high if it has great content for the query.”
Okay so it’s not quite panic stations yet and it’s not as drastic as I initially made out, but nevertheless, I’ve personally taken this announcement as a wake up call. Why? Well think about it, mobile devices are only going one way…More popular, so you don’t really need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that it’s probably good practice to revamp your site into a responsive one sooner rather than later. I don’t know the facts and figures exactly, but what I do know is that more and more people are accessing the internet via their tablets and mobile phones and this could be traffic you could be capitalizing on!
Which brings me nicely to my brand new responsive squeeze page template for WordPress. I’ve just created a modern contemporary squeeze page template that you can integrate with your current WordPress theme. If you want to see what it looks like, check out the video below:
